The Dell Latitude line of notebooks are well built business machines. The Latitudes and XPS lines are a tier higher than the entry-level Inspiron Series.
The case is constructed of metal with plastic trim along the LCD monitor. There are 4 USB ports which allow for a variety of peripherals to be attached such as portable hard drives. There is a headphone and microphone jack and an outlet for a monitor. The keyboard is comfortable to the touch. In addition to the mousepad, there is a pointing stick with 2 buttons below the space key, allowing for either to control the cursor. The 'spill proof' keyboard is one of the biggest assets (I have only spilled a drink on it once, where I just wiped off the keyboard without a problem in function).
The WIFI capabilities is reliable and easy to set up. The hard drive is quiet, as is the optical drive. The strike zone hard drive is resistant to light drops.

I purchased the D620 for my daughter in college when her 2 yr old HP notebook died due to an overheating problem (long story). After verifying that the D620 worked properly by connecting to the internet and installing XP SP 3, I moved over one of the RAM chips (for a total of 1.5 GB) and the harddrive from the HP. I then installed Windows 7 and recovered her data files (I didn't really expect a college student to use the flash drives that I gave her for backups). Finally, I installed software including Office 7. Throughout the process the D620 performed flawlessly. I tested it by running DVDs, Office apps and videos over the internet (after I set up a wireless connection). This is one fine notebook, very fast and with a good display. Its only "short comings" are obvious from the specs, i.e., no web cam, no media slots and no DVD burner. But these are clearly minor issues given the price.

I used the same laptop at work for the about the last 3 years, and it is a work horse. I can buy a brand new commercial laptop for couple hundred bucks more, but I wanted the reliability of the professional business laptop. I have to say this used business machine Laptop works well except for 3 problems: First, the battery only lasts 5 minutes, second, the DVD burner drive work sporadically (DVD door doesn't eject consistently, and it doesn't always detect the DVD or CD in it). Handed the laptop to my 11 year old daughter few weeks after purchase (Christmas gift), so I did not find out about these problems until 2 month after purchase. Contacted the seller, but the warrantee had expired after 30 days of purchase, so I have to buy a battery and drive on my own. Third thing, the XP pro operating system was loaded on the computer, but the recovery disks were not included; I hope the hard the hard drive doesn't crash sometime soon.

This is a great laptop for the price. It functions beautifully for basic use (school, work, surfing the web, etc.). I have had absolutely no trouble with mine, and would highly recommend this product to everyday users.
I've seen a couple of bad reviews simply because users purchased this computer with the intent to make it their "gaming" computer, and then were disappointed with the outcome. Check the specs and your game requirements first. If you truly want a gaming computer, you probably shouldn't be looking at Laptops in the first place.
It's a great computer at a reasonable price. If you just need something for work, school, and surfing the web, it's perfect.

Decent product however I bought the laptop from BRAVTEK and I got cheated on the deal. He sold me a defective product and refused to fix it. Be careful shopping for laptops and by all means avoid the above vendor.

This laptop is so awesome. I've always had a desktop, so I'm excited that I was able to purchase a laptop at such an inexpensive price. First of all, it's advertised as having 512MB RAM and a 40GB hard drive. Well, I got 1G of RAM and a 60 GB hard drive. Secondly, it works so well, as if it's new. And thirdly, for this to have been a refurbished computer, it looks good with very little to no scratches. Several people's comments have not been to pleasing, but I would blame the seller, not the laptop. I didn't purchase the cheapest one. I read all of the sellers' comments and chose the one I thought would give me an honest buy. I am very happy with my purchase.

As soon as I took it out of the box, I was amazed!
***PLEASE READ IF YOU'RE TRYING TO DECIDE BETWEEN THE 6426 MODEL & THE 7017 MODEL***
The screen is very bright & very vivid, I find it just beautiful. I've read reviews on other sites complaining about the large size of it, please remember this is a 17.3" laptop. It is a nice size laptop & will of course be a bit heavier than an 11". If you aren't sure how big it is, please grab a tape measure & measure 17.3" diagonally. Rating the laptop lower because you didn't want a large laptop is just plain idiotic.
I plugged it in & turned it on. I was expecting to have to fight with it to set up the network connection (sometimes connections are a hassle), but this laptop made it so easy. I was able to set up my network within the first two minutes of having turned it on. It booted up, I typed in my network key, & I was connected, easy as that.

I must have been searching laptop vigorously for a few weeks. I checked all the discount sites and have not found one that compares to this laptop with the specs that it provides. Especially for a 17.3" this is by far one of the best deals.
External: - the cover and look of the laptop is sleek. The external shell is of texture plastic which is great since it is not a fingerprint magnet - it has 3 usbs and hdmi which is very useful for connecting to a tv or monitor. The software provided automatically detects the external display
Internal: - I've had the laptop for a few weeks now which I have not had any issues - They processor is plenty powerful and quick; browsing, gaming, video editing, sound editing - I wish it had a faster hard drive however almost all laptops come with a 5400 rpm drive. - I don't have any qualms with the graphics card. Hello, let me give you a detailed review about this laptop. I'm and advanced PC user, i use laptop's or PC for more than 12 hours daily, doing heavy work. 500,000 Excel database, sql database, access databese, GIS Developing & Street and data collection. i use a very heavy software called Mapinfo where i have Maps from Central America with more than 1,000,000 business points. Some video-editing. So a very fast and durable laptop it's a must have for me.
First Impression. What i like. Awesome design, i like the texture is really light for a 17.3 inch (my ex-toshiba 16" was heavier). Nice, simple, no fingerprint magnet, just excellent.
External: The screen it's beatiful, a 17.3 inch with 1600x900, surfing on the web its amazing and watching series or movies gave you a little more of 720p HD (i herad some people complain about viewing angles, but so far i haven't, remember this is a laptop, you are suppoused to used it from 0 -3 feet of distance).
